This genealogy group was formed in 2004. We welcome new members even if they have no previous experience of genealogy. Some members are very knowledgeable and have a lot of resources, with wonderful albums of photos, birth, marriage and death certificates and copies of census records, whilst others are just beginning their research. We are always working out ways to properly file all the pages and printouts which one inevitably acquires. Everyone enjoys finding out as much as possible about past generations, who they are, where they lived and what they did and there is a satisfying sense of achievement when a new piece of information comes to light. At each meeting we usually have a theme/topic when hopefully most members participate. This generates a lot of discussion, with helpful tips and advice and experiences shared. We also visit local records offices.
